Cannot save a project to server

I’m starting to work with Project Professional 2007 and I cannot save (“save
asâ€) a project to server. The message that appears is: "The project could not
be saved. Please retry saving the project. If the problem persists, save the
project as MPP file and contact your system administrator".
This project was designed/created one year ago.

1) Is there any special recommendation on saving a project which was created
some time ago?
2) What’s the difference between “Save as†to project server and “Import
Project to Enterprise†(Tools\Enterprise Options)?

Thanks in advance

Hi MP,

this can have many reasons. Firstly has the project been created within
Project Server? if not and you wish to "import" the project into project
server you will need to do so via the import wizard ( Tools > Enterprise
Options > import Project to Projectserver).

In order to answer your question regarding the differences between "save as"
and save in project Server; Each project you create and maintain in project
server can also be saved as an mpp file. thats where the "save as" comes into
action. Please note, once a project is saved as an mpp file you are not able
to "re-import" the project to overwrite the current proejct server version.
You can use the import wizard, but it will become a new project in project
server and will not update the project schedule from where the project came
from.

I hope this helps

I tried to import the project to server, but I still got the same message.

I resolve the problem deleting project's custom fields. This was the only
way I found to be able to import the project...
