Cannot save as, Macro not found

I have just installed Word 2003 and when I go to save a file as a different name, a message tells me that the Macro cannot be found or loaded because of the Macro Security Settings. I have allowed all Macros to run (Low Security Setting) and this message pops up everytime I go to save a document as another name. I am able to work around this, but I have installed a new UPDATED (2003) version of Word and it SHOULD work better than the OLD (XP) version of Word.

Hi Brendan,

First, I would never set my macro security to Low, just as I would never leave my door unlocked because the door bell keeps ringing and every time I check no one is there. :)

Second, I'd say the problem is due to a missing macro. It sounds like your menu may have been customized at one time and the Save As command was replaced and now the macro can no longer be found.

Try going to Tools/Customize and either remove the current Save As command and replace it with a new on from the Commands tab under the File category, or on the Toolbars tab select "Menu bar" and click Reset.

Third, change your macro security back to Medium. You should be aware of every macro attempting to run - otherwise you are ‘leaving the door unlocked’ and making yourself vulnerable to macro viruses.
