Canon Image Runner will not print

I have Microsoft Office 2002 and a Canon Image Class D860, which printed fine
until I bought a new computer. It is connected properly, but now will not
print automatically. I have to reboot my computer, then the copies are
printed, which is a little inconveniet, to say the least. I have contacted
Canon, they had me make some adjustments, which didn't work, but then
basically said that it is a Microsoft problem.

Anita,

I suggest post your question here:

news://microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware

It looks like the USB port may need to be reinstalled. You normally do
this by going to device manager/hardware and deleting the USB port so
that the printer is not recognized.

Then when you reboot, the system will find the correct drivers for USB
and printer and everything should be recognized again.

I am assuming it is not a question of default printer selection.

Thanks for anwering my inquiry. I will try it and see what happens. If it
still doesn't print, I will then post to the website you suggested. I really
appreciate your help.
