Can't activate my product key

I'm trying to activate my product key - I have a laptop - but it is saying
standard edition, when I have the Windows XP Home Edition sticker with the
product key on the bottom of my laptop. How do I activate the product when
it won't accept the code I type in?

If you are trying to activate Office using the Operating system key, it
is not ever going to work. You need to use the Office activation key
from the CD case.

but it didn't come in a CD case, it was already pre-loaded on the laptop? am
i just not going to be able to use and change the documents that I have
already made? Or did the laptop definitely HAVE to come with a standard
edition product key, and i just need to search through all of the paperwork
to find it?

If you are referring to the Trial version, and it's expired then you
will need to buy a real version. If you have an OEM version, you will
need to contact the vendor to straighten this out.
