Can't Add Macro Shortcut Keys

M

Matthew Mailey

I have Office/Word 2003 and am trying to create a Macro that will insert
custom text.

I have everything established and can run the Macro without problems using
Alt+F8+Run. However, when I try to establish shortcut keys on my keyboard
the field will not except any input. No matter what I do, I can't add the
keys - I click in the field to add the keystrokes, click keys on the
keyboard, try combinations, but nothing appears in the field. It's almost
like a keyboard isn't installed although there is no question it is connected.

Can anybody help with this? is there something I am not doing right?

Clarification:

I created the Macro, made sure it works, then went to
Tools>Customize>Keyboard>Macros>"Press new shortcut key"

However, I can't enter any keys, I can click in the box and the cursor
blinks, but I can't add the keys.

Thanks for any help you folks can provide.

I'm bumping this because I need some help on this. I can't type anything
into the shortcut key section - nothing registers. Help please.

Word 2003 - XP Pro OS
Doing the Macro correctly - It will work when run manually
Can't get the shortcut keys to register - I go to the right place to add the
keys, but nothing I type registers.
Help!
