Can't add or modify Sharepoint server

I have a STS and Project Server 2002 setup at my company. Everything was
working a couple of days ago between STS and Project server.

Yesterday, I tried to add a document to the Sharepoint server and was unable
to do so. The page just loads continuously and eventually times out.

I can't do anything regarding sharepoint from the PS side, but I can do all
the sharepoint related activities fine directly from the Sharepoint webs.

Somehow my connection between PS and STS is broken. However, I am unable to
add a new STS server or modify the existing one, as the page just continues
to load and eventually returns the standard browser Cannot find site or DNS
error message.

I deleted all the subwebs and reran the STSwiz.exe and this didn't fix the
problem either.

Any suggestions??

Before running the stswiz.exe you have to delete the
MS_Projectserver_Publicdocuments virtual directory from
the Inetmgr.

Tried this multiple times, but it doesn't fix the problem. The
communication link between the two (PS and STS) is what isn't working. I'm
trying to see if it is related to the permissions suggested in the other
post.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Thank you for the suggestion, but that hasn't fixed the problem either.
Somehow the connection between STS and PS is not being made properly.

Everytime I try a STS task through PS, it locks up and times out.

As a side note, we are getting a weird "Permissions out of order error" on
the server in some of the STS directories. The directories have the wrong
permissions on them, but when you click OK on the dialog box indicating the
incorrect permissions, Win 2000 seems to fix them.

However, these incorrect permissions keep showing up and is, what I beleive,
the source of our problem.

Thanks again.

Eric,

When it's working, and then suddenly it isn't, my first suspicion is that
the proxy settings have come unglued. Rerun the proxycfg utility. Make sure
you change the name of the proxy server from the one you had previously used
when you do this. Run it twice if you must ultimately have the same name.
