can't change default font

My Outlook 2000 is configured so new messages and replies
are automatically written in blue Arial 10-point font. I
want to change the font, but when I go to "Tools" -
"Options" - "Mail Format", the "Fonts" boxes are grayed
out so I cannot choose any options. If I go to the e-mail
editor and change the default, it changes the default
setting for all my Word documents. The "Help" and MS
website have been no help. Any suggestions???

So you're using WordMail, right? (Your post was a bit confusing in this
regard.) If so, try editing the Email.dot file in Word -- I believe that's
what Outlook 2000/Word 2000 used when Word is the default e-mail editor.
(Later versions of Office used Normal.dot.)
