Can't delete an e-mail

I received an e-mail in Outlook that I could not open and I cannot delete. If I try to delete it, the message "unknown error appears. How do I delete the e-mail?

Can you write a rule using the rules wizard to
move the message to the deleted items folder.
Then set Outlook to clean out your Deleted
Items folder to purge itself on close.

There is also a method of using the
<Shift>+<Delete> keys to delete the highlighted
message.
