Can't delete foreground image displayed on all pages !

Hi, I'm facing a very strange issue !

I use Word 2003. A colleague sent me a .doc document displaying a huge
image of a bug on every page. Image is on the foreground and CANNOT be
selected : when you try to select it you get the text in the
background. I've tried to remove all content of the file but
the image is still here ! Header and footer are empty. No watermark.
Level security is maximum in Macro menu (Microsoft and Macromedia as
trusted editors). Nothing found in Script editor & VBA editor but I'm
not an expert.

When empty, file size is very small : 20kb. I've scan the file for
virus with Norton with last .DAT file and nothing was found.

A help would be greatly appreciated !

Use the white arrow on the drawing toolbar to select it.

Hi Graham, thank you so much for responding !

Obviously it's the first thing I tried to do. But even with the white arrow
of the drawing bar selected there are no "bullets" around the image to
handle it. Still no luck rolling the mouse over this image : simply no way
to select it !

Any other idea ?

If the arrow won't select it in the text view, the image is presumably tied
to the header/footer. Open the header view and try again.

Thanks again Graham but as I said in my first post header & footer are
empty.
Image is visible only in the Page view but not even in the Web view ! I
really don't understand.

Any other suggestion ? Would you mind take a look to the file if I send it
to you ?

Zip it and send it via the link on my web page

Indeed I modified the structure of the document in Script Editor just by
removing a single line break and the image disappeared ! It looks like a
hack.

The bad thing is I still have no control over the object and as a programer
and this is really frustrating me : where is this image stored ? where is it
called from ? Anyway ... Graham, thank very much you for your kindness !
Long live the spirit of the newsgroups.***********

It appears to be a non standard border in HTML format and is not
directly
editable in the document. You can see the construction with the script
editor (which is presumably how it was inserted) ALT+SHIFT+F11.

Even if the header/footer are empty, there could be a paragraph mark to
which the image is anchored. Have you tried doing View | Header and Footer
and then clicking on the graphic?

If only it were that simple :(
This seems to be a hack. I'll mail you the document for your own amusement.

Yes Suzanne with no luck.

Seems like the document has been hacked by someone. Thanks to Graham I
was able to "remove" the image using Script Editor. In fact the image is
still in the document but is no long displayed (or something like that
sorry for being ignorant)...

MS Office documents nowadays are embedding a lot of different kind of
information : data, styles, scripts, images, links etc... and it is very
frustrating not to have a total control over it like in HTML source mode.
