Cant delete inbox messages

[scratching my head]

I was cleaning up my inbox and deleting groups of emails when for no apparent
reason the delete quit working. Now if I select an email and hit the delete
button nothing happens. My inbox is filling up and I can no longer delete
unwanted emails. I get no error message or anything. Like I said, "nothing"
happens!

I am using win 98, outlook express 6.0, and pop3. The Deleted Items folder
is empty and it doesn't matter if I use the delete button, right click and
select delete or even use threatening language!!!! NOTHING happens, it just
sits there and ignores me. Thats all I am sure about

Outlook Express is a different application from Outlook. OE is part of
Internet Explorer so for good answers specific to OE, please ask here
