Can't export or rebuild database - Entourage X & 2008

My database is 2.83 GB and I have 266 GB free space.

In X, when I try to rebuild the database the operation begins but the progress bar never moves. I let this run overnight, eventually force quit. A new database has been created but it is essentially the same as the old and can't be rebuilt.

I'd like to export my data to 2008 but the export wont work because of the database problem. I tried putting overwriting the 2008 identity with the X identity. It tells me the database needs to be rebuilt, but then the database doesn't appear in the utility.

I'm stuck.

Does the Identity open? If yes, export your data.

How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)

See if Apple Mail can import the Entourage X Identity. If not, contact me
off list for other options.
