can't indent/outdent or show/hide subtasks

Hi -

I have project file that has inactive indent/outdent and show/hide subtasks
buttons. I can't do either. If you try to cliick on the little '+' to show
subtasks it won't do anything. same goes for indent/outdent. any ideas,
please?? thx!!

Have you tried the show button on the formating toolbar?

Sounds as if you are using 2003 standard without the service release which
fixes this problem.
Go to http://microsoft.com/office/project and find the service release.

Hi again,

You have to select the task before you try to outdent ou ident them, if not
it appear grey. It's the only thing I remember. If it doesn't work, you can
send the project (if you want and it's possible) so I can see the problem.

I don't think this is the problem. I'm using Project 2000. And, you can't
indent/outdent ANYTHING. Nor can you show/hide any tasks. I've used this for
a year now with no problems. so, i don't think this is the solution
unfortunately....

Is it possible you have either a filter applied or the file is sorted?
These are common scenarios that are often overlooked when indent/outdent
are strangely inactive.

Exactly, but when you select a task, all those buttons remain greyed out,
when they would normally become active. therefore, you can't use them.
how/where can i send you this as an example?

Sort by ID again (being careful not to select Permenantly Renumber).
