Can't open embedded link in OL2K message

Hi All,

I have a user that is unable to open an embedded link from an Outlook
message. HTTP: doesn't work but MAILTO: does.

If I forward the mail to a client using the same version of Outlook or OL2K3
& the same version of IE, the link works as expected. Can anyone help?
She's running:

OL 3K SP3 (9.0.0.6627)
IE 6.0.2900.2180 SP2 (w/ all settings set back to defaults)

Thanks & Ciao,

Tony

A common cause for failure is loss of "file association". Do the following:
Windows explorer>tools>folder options>File types>scroll to "HTML">select
"HTML" - under "Details for HTML extensions verify that it reads "opens
with Internet Explorer". If not use "change" option.

AJR,

Thanks for the reply but no joy. .HTM & .HTML are already associated with
IE. Any other suggestions...

Thanks,

Tony

Try this. In IE, click Tools>Internet Options>Programs>Reset Wen Settings.

Hey Brian,

Thanks for the response. I had done this before with no luck. I'll try the
solution AJR posted in response to your post.

AJR,

Thanks for the follow up. Looks like this is referencing OL Express & Word
but will give it a shot & post back.

Thanks & Ciao,

AJR & Brian,

Found the issue with opening links. The user had installed an ICQ client
w/IE toolbar. After closing ICQ and turning off the toolbar, everything
worked as expected. It appears that each time it was launched, it was
changing the URL file extension so that it opened with something other than
IE.

Thanks for the help; I appreciate it.

Ciao,

Tony
