Can't open file

I loaded MS Powerpoint (I was one of the unlucky ones who purchased the XP
Office version that did not include it), and two of my files will no longer
open in Publisher. They are based on an inventory template. Other existing
..pub files I had created do open, but these two do not. The templates
display, then an error message pops up saying "Microsoft has encountered an
error and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". The program
then shuts down. The error report contents are long. I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Opening Publisher files with PowerPoint is not normally a good idea. Or was
that a typo? :)

How big are the files in question? Were they originally created in
Publisher 2002 or an earlier version? Are you running Norton AntiVirus?

Sorry for the confusing post; actually it is a .pub file that I created in
Publisher and can no longer open with Publisher. I mentioned MS Powerpoint
because the two files could not be opened after I added Powerpoint to my
system. It's not unusual for new MS installations to create conflicts with
other programs, including their own. I'm assuming there is a connection to my
installation of Powerpoint and the subsequent problems with Publisher. All
files were created by me in the current Publisher version and on the same
computer. For whatever reason, two files using an inventory template will no
longer open and cause Publisher to shut down. The other files I also created
in Publisher open fine. I did not make any modifications to the .pub files
before I loaded Powerpoint, so the only activity that occured relative to
these .pub files failing was the install of Powerpoint.

What version would that be?

Powerpoint 2003 11.5529, 5606
I do run Norton Anti-Virus. I disabled it, but still had the same problem
with the 2 files. The files are 180 KB each.

Thank you

Try disabling Script Blocking and the Microsoft Office PlugIn in NAV.
Also, try emailing me the files to see if I can open them.
