Can't open files with Office 2003 Pro

I uninstalled Office XP and installed Offfice 2003
Professional. I cannot open any existing files in Word,
Excel, or Powerpoint nor can I open new files created with
the new software. I get a "can't read" error. I have
Windows XP. Thanks.
