Can't publish website as read only?

Q

QBears

I cannot upload my website as I get the error message "read only". I have
checked the properties of the file and this is not the case. Any ideas?

What version of Publisher?

Is this message a error dialog you receive when using Publisher to upload
the web publication to the web host? If so at what point in the process (ie
after the login prompt) do you receive this?

Is this a FTP or HTTP upload?

In the future use the web forum - microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign

I am using Office 2003. It was an error dialog when I used Publisher to
upload to my web host. It was after the login prompt.

It is FTP upload.

Thanks

I have the same issue in Pub 2007. It worked fine initially. Using trial
version if that helps

Pub 2003, in ftp, after the login.... your host may not be allowing the
write of a sub-folder. Go into tools, web options and turn off the use a
subfolder option and try again.
If it still fails you have to contact the host and tell them the permissions
on your account need to be modified.
If they give you grief tell them that Publisher needs to read and write .htm
files, image format files, and sub-folders, and .xml files.

Might ask your question in Publisher web.design newsgroup. Why are you doing a
web page with a trial? What will happen when the trial expires?

As I intend to buy the full version I wanted to check the functionality and
the web design and publishing is a vital part of my requirement.

I had this problem also, when I went from 2003 to 2007. Simple fix--I closed
out the file, re-opened, published and it worked fine.

BUT, as an aside...kind of frustrating--I had to reload all my ftp locations
when I switched to 2007.
