Can't send messages.

I am having problems sending email. I have no problem recieving email, I
just cant send. When I try to send a message it goes directly to my
outbox. I keep getting this error message:

Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x80042108) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your
incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive
this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'

The only thing I can think of is that I recently downloaded Symantec
Firewall/VPN appliance and then deleted it as it was not what i needed. I
have tried to delete all the files associated with this program, but I
still cant send email. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I test my account settings I get this message:

Send test e-mail message: The specified server was found, but there was no
response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL
information is correct. To access these settings close this dialog, then
click More Settings and click on the Advanced tab.

Please help.

Did you just delete the Symantec files, or did you uninstall it from Control
Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Just deleting the files for an installed
application will often not clean up changes it has made to your system.

I was dumb enough just to delete it. Now I don't know how to clean it up
properly. Anybody have any suggestions about what I could do?

Thanks

Try re-installing the program, then use Add/Remove Programs to remove it.
