Can't set milestone or duration to zero for a rollup task - why?

I did stuff out of order - oops! My project plan has over 1,000 tasks and
resources assigned already. Now I'm trying to set durations and milestones.
I can't change the duration of some of my roll up tasks to zero to make them
milestones. Why? I've tried going into "Task Information" - I can toggle
the milestone button on the advanced tab, but I can't change the duration.
The task doesn't ever get marked as a milestone. Any ideas for a work around?

Hi,

By rollup task I suppose you mean a summary task?
Durations of summary tasks are calculate by Project based on the durations
of its subtasks and thus are not available for editing
But I can set Mark Task as Milestone in Task Information, Advanced!
