Can't Uninstall Pre-release and can't Install Beta 7

Hi. I hope someone can help me with this problem because it's rather
annoying and I don't have a word processing program on this computer that I
can use.
I was running the install for Beta 7 and it told me that I had to uninstall
the Pre-release before it could install. So I went to Control Panel,
Add-Remove Programs, and "Removed" the Pre-Release. Unfortunately, about 3/4
of the way through the uninstall, the computer crashed. When I turned the
computer back on and ran through the same steps to uninstall the Pre-Release,
it said that it could not uninstall because it needed the language components
in order to run. Could someone please help with this problem? I am in
urgent need of a word-processing program! Thank you for your time.

Now you see why you should *never* run a beta program on a production
system. What were you using before risking the stability of your system?

I don't know. It is my aunt's computer and her son was the one that
installed the pre-release and now they want me to fix it. But I believe that
the computer came without Microsoft Office and the pre-release is the first
Office program on that computer.

You can try the Windows Installer cleaner but it's considered a last ditch
effort. As for a word processor, you'll need whatever disks came with her
computer. It may only have been Works but it's better than nothing.

And tell your nephew that he needs to learn not to go messing up somebody
else's computer by downloading something just because he can.

Ok, I'll give that a try. Thanks for the advice. I'll post with the results
after I have time to run the cleaner.

Hi Chan,

From your description it's not clear which betas you're working with and which one is having the problem uninstalling.

MS Office 2007 (version 12) is beta 2. MS Internet Explorer is v7 beta/prerelease 3.

Ok, I'll give that a try. Thanks for the advice. I'll post with the results after I have time to run the cleaner. >>
