cause of repeating keys

I am getting computer generated repeating keys in all word processing
programs and in any program requiring word or numbers to be inserted with the
keyboard. Examples are repeating: ------------------------- or
+++++++++++++++++ or backspacing or scrolling. It is all done automatically
by a "magic hand' so to speak.

Anyone else have the problem or the solution?

My guess is that it's a hardware problem. Try plugging in a keyboard from
another computer... does the problem persist?
