centering an object

Hello, if i have a rectangle and i want to vertically and horizontally center
an image to it, what are my options?

The only thing that comes to mind is to calculate half the lenght, height of
the rectangle put guides to those points and align the image to the center of
those guides, but is there a faster way?

Select the rectangle, Arrange, align? The Align and Distribute is a tear off
menu, you can dock it along any side of the screen.
What version Publisher?

hello, publisher 2007. To clarify a little i am wondering if there is an easy
way to center the picture inside the rectangle, the way you center a picture
inside an html table cell for example with valign ans halign.

Maybe I am dense, are you asking about a table cell align, web page align...?

The method I suggested in the first post is how alignment is done in a
publication. If you want the alignment in a table cell it can't be done unless
you draw the rectangle the size of the cell and insert the picture. Or select
the cell, fill, fill effects, picture tab, browse to your picture. The picture
will fill the cell completely.

Web pages are different, I can't help you there.
