Certificate of Security

Dave Neve

Hi

As my security settings are medium, I am always being asked if I want to
activate my macros.

So I installed SelfCert.exe and run it (apparently successfully according to
a window)

But it didn't make any difference and my name didn't not appear in the
security window as a reliable source.

I've also tried running it with my main macro document open and with .dot
open but nothing gives.

What is the procedure for running SelfCert.exe please?

Thanks

Dave,

You'll need to sign your templates with the digital certificate you just
created.

In the VBA editor, go to Tools and Digital Signature. Use the screen to
sign your template and save it. When you restart Word and attempt to use the
macro, you should see a different screen pop up to say the template has been
signed and if you want to trust the source (there'll be a tickbox about
always trusting the source). That should add your certifice to the trusted
sources dialog.

Bear in mind though that the SelfCert utility is intended for testing
purposes and you'll probably have to invest in a "proper" digital signature
from a source such as Verisign if you're deploying templates to a large
amount of users.

Hope that helps.

Pete.
