change background color with clipart

I need to change the background color of the clipart from white to the color
of the colorbox it is inserted in. I tried transparent ctrl -T it did not
change.

What format is the image? If the image is a .wmf, select it, arrange, click ungroup,
(twice) delete the surrounding box. Re-group. The image will look dim but it will
print okay. These instructions are for Publisher 2002-03.
