Microsoft Office Document Imaging does not come loaded with Microsoft Word
2007. You have to download it. F1 for instructions to download. That I did
but
cannot figure out how to convert a file to .tiff so that Microsoft Office
Document
Imaging will recognize the file. Can anyone help please?

Microsoft document imaging is included with Office 2007, but not installed
by default. You don't have to 'download' it but install it.
When installed it adds a 'printer' driver called Microsoft Office Document
Imaging Writer. You can set the properties of this driver to default its
output to TIFF format. Anything you then 'print' to the driver from any
application will be converted to TIFF images. Alternatively (and better) you
could install the trial version of SnagIt which makes a rather better job of
outputting print jobs to TIFF or any other graphical format.

Microsoft Office Document Imaging is primarily a rudimentary OCR software
package for converting TIFF back to Word format.

Graham--how do you install the Microsoft Office Document Imaging Writer? I
have Vista and Word 2007. Also, I have SnagIt but don't see any option there
to convert a docx file to a tiff file. All help greatly appreciated.

Insert your Office2007 distribution disk, and when you get to the
screen that offers a "Custom" install, click Custom and choose the
MODI from the various things offered.

To install Microsoft Document Imaging re-run Office setup from the Windows
Control Panel Add or Remove Programs applet and make it available to run
from the PC.

Installing SnagIt also creates a printer driver. Set the driver option to
save as TIFF (Right click the SnagIt System Tray icon > Tools > SnagIt
Printer Capture Settings > Output to File > Properties - set to always save
to TIF (or whatever).. Print to the SnagIt driver.
