microsoft imaging default format

Hi, I'm using Office 2003 Document Imaging. When I scan a document it saves
as a tiff file correctly, but if I select send text to Word, it always wants
to save as an HTML document instead of Word. Can I set it to default to a
Word Document - I haven't been able to find an option in either program. At
the moment I have to "save as" then change the doc type to .doc manually.

Any help appreciated.
