The new project manager will need to change two settings in their new
project: the Owner of the project and the Manager of the project. If your
company's Project Server security settings are set to allow your project
managers to see and open one another's projects in Read-Write mode, then the
new project manager will need to do the following to become the Owner of the
project:
1. Log into Project Web Access with project manager permissions
2. Click the Projects menu
3. In any column other than the Project Name column, select the project
which he/she will now own and manage
4. Click the Edit Project Details button
5. Change the Owner value to their own name
6. Click the Save and Close button
If your company's security settings allow only each project manager to see
his/her own projects, then the Project Server administrator will need to
complete the above six steps to actually change the Owner of the project to
the name of the new project manager. Doing so will now allow the new
project manager to actually open, edit, save, and publish the project.
To become the Manager of the project, the new project manager will also need
to complete the following steps:
1. Open Microsoft Project 2002 and log into Project Server using their own
user account
2. Open the project in question
3. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments...
4. In the Republish Assignments dialog box, select the "Become the
managerfor these assignments" option
5. Click the OK button
Hope this helps.
