Kiran

Hi
I have a very big list of recipients for mail merge
created in Word 97. I have currently Word 2002. I want to
change the ordering of the column i.e. field in the Mail
Recipients dialog box i.e. the source, from the next time
onwards the Mail Recipients dialog box should display the
list in the order that was set.
Please help me.

regards,
Kiran

Hi
Thanks for the response. I created the address list with
fields lie year, class, First name, last name, adress1,
city, home phone, contact. However in my Mail Merge
Recipient dialog box it displays the First name, last
name, adress1, city, home phone, contact, year, class.
I want the list to be displayed as it displayed in the
source document i.e. word. The address I can see by
opening the word document, which has the address in the
form of table in the above said order.
Any help, will be greatly appreciated.

regards,
Kiran

Hi Kiran,

Huh. Never noticed that before. I guess the Recipients box
is trying to be "smart" and show you the data the way it
thinks you'd work with it. There is a certain logic to
that, considering how "new users" might go about creating
data. But if you WANT it that way... definitely a bit rude.
Especially since it does let you move the fields around -
but won't SAVE the changes you make!

I'm afraid I can't help you - Word simply won't do it.

Hi
Thanks Cindy for showing interest in my issue. I
appreciate it. I found a workaround for it. It is a bit
ok, but I too feel this is a design issue.
The workaround is you can drag the fields and arrange
according to one's wish. However, they are not permanent
and gets back to orginal form once out of the document.

Thanks,
Kiran
