Changing document fonts - a really odd problem

Please help

One of my users reckons that since we upgraded them to Office-XP when they open some of the pre-XP documents the fonts have changed from Arial to Times New Roman. any ideas how this could happen assuming that it's possible to achevie in the first place

To my knowledge the this is not set, the problem seems to have started since we upgraded to Office-XP??
