Changing linked workbook area in Powerpoint

I have a number of Excel workbook links set-up in a Powerpoint file. When I
update the links, some parts of the Excel workbook I want to show are being
cut-off. PP Help tells me that to fix the problem I need to double-click on
the workbook and then use the sizing marks to adjust the cells of the
worksheet pulled into PP. When I double-click the Excel program opens up and
I adjust the selected range in Excel, however, I am unable to get back into
PP (no check mark or x near the function key). I used to be able to perform
this feature. I think the problem may be that I am now using MS Office 2003
rather than 2000 and there is a glitch in the program. Previously, when I
double-clicked on the workbook, a small Excel workbook would open inside PP
and I did not have a problem making the changes. Any ideas? I have likely
have 50+ links with this issue and do not want to repaste special them all!
My coworkers have also had the same experience.

Steve,
I tried this technique on a few different problems with no luck. I was able
to switch back into PP, but the linked area did not change. Any ideas?

Steve,
I believe this article addresses a different problem. ( I previously
experienced the issue they are addressing when copying a wide range of
cells). The problem I'm having deals with a changing the range of the cells
included in a PP link after the information has already been paste-specialed.
I spoke with one of my IT co-workers and he believes the problem may have
something to do with ActiveX control vs. OLE programming. It seems like the
mini-Excel workbook appears if I paste an object. If I were only pasting,
this might work, but since the data I am working with changes frequently, I
want to be able to link to Excel. I would love to be able to use this
feature. Thanks.
