Changing slide design within a show

How do I change the (template) design for just some of the slides in a show
or use two design in one show?

With XP onwards

select the slides with ctrl click (slide sorter view may help)
Format > slide design then hover the mouse over the new design. In the
dropdown menu that appears > apply to selected slides

If you have PPT 2002/2003 you can add several masters and apply them to the
needed slides accordingly.
Go to View - Master - Slide master - on the toolbar click on the first
button "add master", change whatever you want. Give it a good recognizable
name using the button 'name master', and exit the master. Now select your
slides (thumbnails) and in the slide design taskpane click on the listarrow
next to the master of your choice in the used in this presentation section,
choose apply to selected slides. If you hover over the thumbnails the name
of the master will pop-up helping you identify the right one.
