changing two spaces to one

I

I'm sure this has been asked often before but I can't find the answer.
How do I automatically change two spaces between sentences (and not
only between sentences) to one space? I have tried Prefs>Spelling and
Grammar>Settings>Spaces req between sentences, but that doesn't seem to
work for some reason to the doc I am working on...

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael:

Grammar won't change it, only tell you when it's wrong.

Use Find/Replace (see the Help for how). Find two spaces, replace with one.

Check carefully to make sure you know what you have in the Find and Replace
fields: you can't "see" spaces in there, but that doesn't mean they're not
there :)

Cheers

And if you have many changes to make, but not *every* instance (so you can't
use "Replace All"), you can save time by keying with the "Find and
Replace" pane to the front Command-n for "Next" (i.e., you don't want to
replace that instance) or Command-r for "Replace" [and go to the next].
