Check Box in Word 2002 Form

Fred

When I create a form with checkboxes, the boxes appear
but I can't get the boxes to check (I assumed that
clicking in the box would do it).

Am I missing something?

When working for forms, you need to protect the form (Tools - Protect - for
Forms). The general procedure is to create your form in unprotected mode,
then save it, and use that form as a template. Check Word's Help file for
additional information.

For more about online forms, follow the links at
http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm especially Dian
Chapman's series of articles.

There are a number of ways to create and use clickable checkboxes in
documents / templates. Some require protected or locked forms, others do
not. Take a look at the Checkbox template available at
http://www.addbalance.com/word/download.htm#CheckboxAddIn for an exploration
of these.

Hope this helps,

Thanks to everyone who replied. I can't find a reference
about protecting the form anywhere--in Help, or
in "Office XP INside and Out."

However, I have several good sources now thanks to you
all.
