circular relationship?

sometimes when i try to open a project file, it pops a box claiming that i
have a circular relationship on a certain task. Also, when I look at the
schedule it's also gone haywire. tasks are jumped around, out of order, and
mis-alligned. Pretty much ruins the whole schedule. Any idea?? (version
Project 2007)

Hi Jason,

I've unfortunately seen this before.
Last time a remedy was a follows
Project menu
Sort
Sort by...
Select Outline Number in the field selection window
for the parameters below select Keep outline structure ON and Permanntly
renumber ON.
(This is far from normal, it must be a bug, I'm only suggesting a repair)

thank you so much. i'll try it next time it happens. hope it won't though.
has this been brought up to Microsoft? is there a way to follow up and get it
corrected? thanks again

do i put "Outline Number" only in the "Sort By..." section? would i have to
put anything in the "ascending" & "decending" windows?

Thanks again...

I think what I call the field selection window is what you call the
Ascending/Descending window.
