click drag down scroll speed

Is there a way to slow down the scrolling speed when
extending a selection below the bottom of the screen? I
seem to remember such a control in an early version of
Word. I am using Word 2000 in Windows XP.

Steve,

Thanks. I could not find that article in the knowledge
base because I kept searching on variations of "scrolling
speed" rather than "extending selections".

It is disappointing to observe that the group responsible
for EXCEL solved this problem several generations ago. If
I click and drag off the edge of the client window, in any
direction, the scroll will start slowly and accelerate as
I drag further into the margin around the client window.

Does anyone know how to get this suggestion to the group
working on Word?

Hi Allen,

They already know: It has been fixed in Word2002/2003. ;-)

BTW, in case there wasn't a mouse with a scroll wheel available, I used the
built-in "AutoScroll" command a lot in Word2000.
You can find it in "Tools > Customize... > Commands > Categories: All
Commands".
You can drag it from there into any toolbar or menu.

Greetings,
Klaus

They got the message long ago. This is fixed in Word 2002 (and Word 2003).
You can't very well expect it to be fixed retroactively in Word 2000.
