How do I restore the "Click here to type" special text box in the slide
master after deleting it (no longer retrievable through "undo")?

And does anyone know how you create those special text boxes? I would like
to design a custom template that has different prompting text, and perhaps
multiple "click here's" on the slide master.

1. Go to View > Master > Slide Master. Then to Format > Master Layout and
check the box next to "Text".

2. You can't add or change Placeholders. What you can do is to layout a normal
slide the way you prefer and then duplicate and edit it when you need that
layout.
