Hi! Someone in our office found a 65,000 clip Broderbund ClickArt
package (5 CDs). If I wanted to copy the clip art from the CD's to my
hardrive for use in Office 2000, what directory(-ies) do I need to put
them in so Office will find them? The CDs consist of .wmf images
(including borders), .jpg images, .tif images and fonts (I know where
the fonts go, thanks!). I just don't want to keep having to insert a CD
every time I want a graphic...

Thanks in advance!

Hi Carmen,

It depends a bit on how you want to use them with Word
and the Word version.

If you just want to use Insert=>Picture=>From File then
you can create a folder on your hard drive for the graphics
and change the setting in Word for
Tools=>Options=>File Locations that comes up as the
default for pictures.

Hi Bob! Thanks for that...

Actually, one of the particulars I'd like to be able to do is to click
on Format -> Borders and Shading -> Borders, from there look in the
"Style" box and be able to see all of them. Of course, I don't know
where those borders are kept, or if they're also in a .wmf format which
is what the ones of the CD are.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to add custom BorderArt to Word. See
http://home.earthlink.net/~wordfaqs/BorderArt.htm

But if you have My Pictures set as the default folder for clip art, I would
suggest saving your ClickArt in a subfolder of My Pictures for ease of
access. If Broderbund offers some kind of viewer and search mechanism for
the clip art, then you'll want to install the art in such a way that you can
use that; otherwise it will be very difficult to browse 65,000 pictures, and
Word's ability to index them so that you can use Insert | Picture | Clip Art
is limited and may require much more effort than you're willing to expend.
