Clip Art

Dinah

I recently installed MS Publisher 2002 on my computer. The
program does not install all of the clipart that is
available. I also cannot access all of the clipart through
MS word or powerpoint. Has anyone else had this problem?
Does anyone have an idea of how to fix it?

Make sure that you install the Microsoft Office Media Content CD.

I didn't ever install the media cd because it said it was for XP and I
am using ME.

I am always concerned about installing material from Microsoft that
can't be uninstalled and didn't want to get tied up in XP.

comments? thanks!

Nowherre in Office XP does anything say it is for Windows XP.
(Note: "XP" is a tag, not a product. There is Windows XP, and there is
Office XP.)
Windows XP wasn't actually out when Office XP was released, hence the lack
of Windows XP on the OS list.
You may be thinking of the "Office XP Media Content". It is the media
content that is distributed with Office XP products, such as Publisher 2002
and Word 2002.

Eh? What kind of material is that that can't be uninstalled?
And how could you possibly get tied up in XP? Microsoft don't generally go
around distributing OSes with their applications...

Now I'm confused!

If you could install the Office product, i. e. Publisher then you can install the
media. It would seem odd that it would come with Publisher 2002 and then you couldn't
use it because of your OS.

The media CD that came with Publisher 2002 specifically says it's for
XP. Wait ... I'll look at it.

One CD says "Publisher Deluxe Media Content". I remember that when I
tried to install it the XP logo popped up, so I cancelled the install.

The other cd says "OfficeXP media content" so I didn't even try to
install it (using Wim-ME).

LOL

Well, it's my understanding that if you upgrade a patch to the OS and it
causes a problem on your system, you can't un-install it. I have seen/
heard a lot of people complain about it, and some of the patches
certainly did cause problems. Do you disagree?

As I have already said, Office XP is not for Windows XP. It is a completely
different product. The Office XP Media Content comes with content for
Office XP products, including Publisher 2002. It has nothing to do with
Windows XP.

There are patches that can't be uninstalled, yes.
There are patches that cause problems on a few systems, yes.
But there are no patches in existence that will put Windows XP on to your
Windows ME computer.

I will post a screenshot in the next message. I made 2 but they are
identical. I didn't get past the EULA. The first disk was labeled
"Microsoft Publisher Deluxe Media Content". The 2d disk is labeled "Msft
OfficeXP Media Content". Just the XP at the top made me nervous.

Do you think I should go ahead and install the first disk? Obviously,
I've never even seen what the media content is. I usually get my own
content.

No, I didn't think anything would put XP on my ME OS. I did think that
an XP product would not co-exist with ME and might mess up my system.

This is ***OFFICE*** XP!!! Office XP is just another version of Office -
like Office 2000 or Office 97. Office 2000 did not require Windows 2000 or
have anything to do with Windows 2000. Ditto Office XP. Publisher 2002 is
a part of Office XP, and so comes with the Office XP Media Content.

This is just ClipArt - images, sounds, videos, and vector graphics. Just
like came in any other version.

You cropped off the part of my post that explained that - Publisher 2002 is
a component of Office XP, and so you use the Office XP Media Content with it

Am having similar trouble with pub 2002 (tho works when
online). Have followed mvp recommendations (copy ALL clips
to hard drive) to no avail. Installed all disks, etc. Used
prev. versions of Pub with no prob. using multiple cd's
when prompted. Please let me know if you work this out,
and I'll do the same. Really prefer to use clips from cd
as with clip gallery & pub 2000

Sorry if I misquoted you. I quoted the parts that were relevant to me :)

Results of experiment: Installed the Publisher Media CD and all went well.

Also installed the PictureIt CD that came with publisher deluxe. On the
box it says that installation requires IE 5.5 (what I use). When I went
to install PI, it said IE 6.0 was needed and would be installed. I
decided to go ahead, even though the actual box itself states this is
not required. Just a petty annoyance and unnecessary aggressive
behavior! End of rant!
