Can't get clip art anymore-Publisher 2003

V

vickie

Just since yesterday I haven't been able to get any clipart. Instead I get
"dglxasset" where the clip normally is. Before yesterday it was all OK, but I
defrag'd my computer and since then I've had this problem. I have searched
this forum (and others) and tried the suggestions, but they don't work. I'm
thinking the clipart file might be corrupt but don't know how to fix it. I've
been trying to fix it for more than 7 hours and it's really annoying me...

for some reason when I tried to do it it just creates another file with the

Is there anything else I should do?

The very reason you rename Mstore10.mgc is so the Organizer will create a new
catalog file the next time you open the Organizer.

I understand there has been an update to the ActiveX control. Be certain it is
enabled.

Downloading clips, templates, and training with the ActiveX control

It might help to compact the Organizer, Start, Microsoft Office Tools, Microsoft

and repair.

Might be worth a try to do a System
Restore to a time before the issue began.

And...there's a possibility that you still have
temporary files that could be deleted:

Running Disk Cleanup to delete Temporary
Internet Files may help:

(310312) Description of the Disk Cleanup
Tool in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310312

Also the following article explains how to
empty the Temporary Internet Files folder:

(260897) How to Delete the Contents of the
Temporary Internet Files Folder
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=260897

And...the following info previously posted
by MVP Yves Alarie may be useful:
==================
(info to me) OLK files are generated by
MS Outlook
==================
Files downloaded from the internet or e-mail,
may be in a subfolder of your Temporary
Internet Files folder.

The folder name will start with OLK and
there will be a number after OLK. The easiest
way to find this folder is to search for OLK*
and once found open it and see if the files
are there.

Click on Start and Search and then:
All files and folders
More advanced options
Search system folders
Search hidden files and folders
Search subfolders

In the top textbox "All or part..."
type in exactly this OLK*
and click search

This search will take a while but should
return all folders starting with OLK. If you
find any...delete them all.

Vickie, Move your temporary folder, it doesn't matter where, a new one will be
created. The *move folder* is in Internet Explorer, Browsing History, Settings
button. See if that is the solution.

Can you open the Organizer as a standalone by dragging the icon to the desktop?
Can you drag and drop images?

You might try installing the ActiveX control again.

Just since yesterday I haven't been able to get any clipart.
Instead
I
get
"dglxasset" where the clip normally is. Before yesterday it was
all
OK,
but I
defrag'd my computer and since then I've had this problem. I have
searched
this forum (and others) and tried the suggestions, but they don't
work.
I'm
thinking the clipart file might be corrupt but don't know how to
fix
it.
I've
been trying to fix it for more than 7 hours and it's really
annoying
me...

No, I haven't - don't know where to move it to and feel rather stupid asking!

Did you move your temporary folder as was explained in the previous post?

Nothing seems to be working. I think I must have done something wrong, and I
don't want to take up any more of your time, the support you've given has
been excellent.
The error code I get when I try to insert clipart (which is just a blank box
with "dglxasset..." on it) is: 0x80004005. Does this shed light on anything?

I didn't mean drop clipart onto the Organizer, I meant the other way around,
drag from the Organizer and drop onto your open application.

Which temporary folder do you mean? The Mstore10.old folder??
I've installed ActiveX again, and I have the clip organizer on my desktop,
but can't drag and drop images into it. It won't allow it.

Vickie, Move your temporary folder, it doesn't matter where, a new one
will
be
created. The *move folder* is in Internet Explorer, Browsing History,
Settings
button. See if that is the solution.

Can you open the Organizer as a standalone by dragging the icon to the
desktop?
Can you drag and drop images?

You might try installing the ActiveX control again.

Thanks Mary, I can only figure that I must be doing something wrong...
Do I need to delete the Mstore10.mgc file now that I have a new catalog
file
(Mstore10.old)??
I've checked the ActiveX control and it is enabled. Not too sure if it's
the
updated one though.
I've also compacted the Clip Organizer and have run the detect and
repair
tool. In desperation I even reinstalled Publisher 2003, which didn't fix
the
problem.

The very reason you rename Mstore10.mgc is so the Organizer will create
a
new
catalog file the next time you open the Organizer.

I understand there has been an update to the ActiveX control. Be
certain
it
is
enabled.

Downloading clips, templates, and training with the ActiveX control

It might help to compact the Organizer, Start, Microsoft Office Tools,
Microsoft
Clip Organizer. When the Organizer opens, Tools, compact. There is also
a
detect
and repair.

I have already done this, after reading it on other posts but it
hasn't
helped. I've also tried to rename the Mstore10.mgc file to
Mstore10.old
and
for some reason when I tried to do it it just creates another file
with
the
new extension ....
Is there anything else I should do?

A message will come up asking where you want to move the folder, browse to "My
Documents", it is good place. Actually you can move it anywhere. A new temporary
folder will be created the next time you open the Explorer browser.

I sincerely hope this will solve your problem.
