Close Tasks to Update

M

Mocha

If we want to hide or remove those completed or inactive tasks from the list
in the "Select Task" dialog box, we can visit PWA -> Server Settings ->
"Close Tasks to Update" under the "Time and Task Management" -> select the
specific project and those tasks you want to hide/remove from the list,
click on Submit button -> repeat the above to select those tasks again and
ensure they are still checked, click on Publish button.

After the above steps, those tasks will not be displayed in the list on the
"Select Task" dialog box.

my questions are :
1. I have done lock the task and the top task level, but in next period
timesheet, those task (top level) will be display in the list on the "Select
Task" dialog box. Is it right?
I add line to the task (top level) and fill the actual in timesheet. what's
the function of task (top level), th task(top level) should not be displayed
in the list on the "Select Task" because we had locked it

2. the PM must select one by one the project file which have percent
completed 100%, is there the way to hide/remove the completed task from list
without submit and publish case one by one project file?

thx a lot for your helping

Hi Mocha,

Tasks which are completed will disapear from the "My Task" view after 10
days of beeing completed. In order to do so, you will need have the option
"Show Only Current Tasks" switched on within the My Task view.

Also note once you install SP1 for Project Server you can actually determine
the amount of days you would like to have the tasks displayed ( within the
Server Settings).

If you want to ensure that no resource enteres any time on completed tasks
then yes the PM will need to go through one by one and close them.

I hope this is what you where looking for. Please let me know ifyou have
further questions.
Thanks

Mocha:

I understand your frustration, but the fact that the task zero remains in
the pick list is a design flaw which the product team will address at some
point. We do not know when. So, in the mean time, you need to make this a
training issue with your users.
