Closing and Opening Outlook 2003

D

Darren

When I close Outlook 2003 it remains in the task list for
5-10 seconds after it is closed. During this time you
cannot reopen outlook without getting an error.

The error is a dialog box with the message "The Operation
Failed"

After 5-10 seconds Outlook.exe disappears from task
manager and you can open Outlook again.

We have a beta group testing Outlook 2003 with about 15
users and everyone has the problem.

We are running

Windows XP with SP1
Exchange 2000 with SP3

There are no PST/OST files and the cached Exchange mode is
disabled.

There are no 3rd party add-ins

We have a similair problem, except that our Outlook.exe
remains running, it doe snot ever stop. I have to end
the process or reboot in order to open Outlook again. If
I figure anything out I will let you know.

I have no 3rd party applications and add-ins. I can
emulate this problem on any machine in any state on the
network.

When you have ActiveSync installed it keeps Outlook open - the only way to
close it is to undock your pda (often works) or go to Task Manager and then
kill Outlook.
