Code corrupted

V

Vicki Huffman

At the bottom of my index, in red, is a comment saying "Code corrupted.
Insert fresh copy." This appeared last night while attempting to insert a
weather gizmo from wundergound. I inserted the gizmo just fine, but can't
remove the red comment. It appears only on my Preview page and when viewing
online, where it's an eyesore. I can find nothing in the HTML, where I can
remove the line. If I right-click the comment while in Preview, I get the
message that my entire index will be removed. Can anyone help? I'm at a
loss.

Assuming the weather gizmo people gave you code to insert, try this:

1) Remove the gizmo.

2) Copy the original code that the weather gizmo people gave you and paste
it into notepad.

3) Copy and paste the code into your html code view on the page in FrontPage
and see if it turns out better.

Hi Tom...I tried that last night, but the message is still there. This
morning I reinserted the gizmo by going to Insert, Web Component, Advanced
Controls, HTML. I pasted the gizmo code in there and saved. Maybe you
could glance at my page to see what I'm dealing with. (forgive me for
taking up your time, as it's not a commercial site but a fun page.)

Hi Murray. Okay, I deleted the gizmo code from HTML. Gizmo is gone.
Unfortunately, the red message is still there. I can't find anything that
addresses this problem. I pulled down the Help menu, looked through the FP
2002 book that I purchased a long time ago, and went online.

Does this mean I may need to dump the whole site and start over?

Vicki

Delete the gizmo's code. Is the message still there?

V

Vicki Huffman

That's strange. The gizmo was displaying when I pulled up my web site.
Okay...I don't need that gizmo. I took Murray's suggestion and deleted the
code. Gizmo is gone. But did you see the message in red at the very
bottom? The one that read: "Code corrupted. Insert fresh copy." If you
can't see that message on your screen, then it's no longer a problem.

Vicki

When I looked, I saw absolutely nothing to do with Gizmo on the page, but I
saw the source code.

Murray...when I deleted the hit counter script, the message disappeared.
Many thanks for the suggestion! It had been working fine, actually, until I
installed the weather gizmo. I removed the weather gizmo permanently, as I
don't really need it. Just thought it was cute. - I'll fiddle with the
hit counter script again later. At least now I'll know what to remove if
the problem recurs. It's a pretty detailed hit counter for a freebie.

Many thanks again! You made my day. And thank you, Tom!

Vicki :)
