Collapsible list does not collapse

J

Janet

I cannot get my collapsible list to collapse. I go to
format, click on numbers, click OK, Type my list,
Hylight, right click the top item, click on list
properties, enable collapse and enable upon opening.
Nothing happens when I preview in my browser. I have
done no editing of it at this point. Can someone please
tell me what I am doing wrong. I have tried it about 50
times. Cannot find anything in search.
Thank you for any help,
Janet

Hi Janet,

The problem might be as simple as...
What you are expecting...

1. Car
2. Train

Type of list will not collapse ...
BUT!!

1. Car
1. Ford
2. Dodge

Will collapse to look like

1. Car

Until you click on the "Car" and then the others will show...

NOW another problem is that you need to know that you can click on them.
(The cursor doesn't change from I beam) SO...

In the HTML pane, locate the <UL dynamicoutline initcollapsed> tag, which is
the start of the collapsible list.

How?
On the Edit menu, click Find.
Type "<UL dynamicoutline initcollapsed>" (without the quotation marks) in
the Find what: box.
Click Find Next.

Modify the first <LI> tag to read <LI STYLE="cursor:hand">.

Save the page and click Preview in Browser.
When you position the mouse pointer over the list, it will display as a
pointing finger instead of an I-beam.

Thank you very much, I got it. One more question on it
if you can hep, do I edit it for font and position before
I collapse it, or after. Thank you again, I have been
working on that thing for days. Janet

Thank you, I will give that a try, when I do the editing
after, I lose my collapse. But at least I got it to
collapse.
