Collect only the {green} words

Opinicus

I have a document in which a large number of words, sentences, and
paragraphs scattered in many different locations are marked in green.
(The font color is green.) I need to copy all of these words,
sentences, and paragraphs into a single file separate from the
unmarked text. There are other words etc in the file that are marked
with other colors (both font and highlight); I need to separate out
only the green-font ones. The copied words etc should remain untouched
in the original file.

How do I do this?

TIA

Ctrl+F (Find)
Check the box “Highlight all items found in: Main Document”.
Click the More button.
Format Button, Font, Font Color change to Green. Leave the rest blank.
OK
Find All.
The number of occurrences will be shown.
Close. The Ctrl+C to copy all of the occurrences, and paste into your
new document.

Hope this helps

If you have a version that has the "Find All" feature (2003 and above, maybe
2002 as well), this is quite easy. Ctrl+F to open the Find dialog. Leaving
the "Find what" box blank, click More to open the bottom of the dialog, then
choose Format | Font, and choose the appropriate color. Click OK. In Word
2003, check the box for "Highlight all items found" and click Find All. In
Word 2007, click "Find in" and choose the appropriate document story.

When all the found items are selected, press ESC to exit the Find dialog
(leaving the found items selected) and Ctrl+C to copy. Paste the copied text
into a new document (you'll get one paragraph per item, IIRC).

That does exactly what I want. Thanks a bunch. One note: Apparently I
need to leave the grey checkmarks in the "Effects" pane alone...

Yes, don't touch anything except the one feature you want to control for.
