Coloring Objects - new color shows in Print Preview not page

I went to change to background color and it showed the
change in the preview, clicked ok, did not appear in the
document. Print preview the new color is there and also
change appears when printed.

How can I get it to show up on the document?

This is strange -- never had this kind of thing happen
before.
