Print preview not in color

Using Publisher 2003, Epson 1280 printer installed...print preview only
shows in grayscale...

Can the print preview be shown in color?

Thanks

Hmm, this is the first time I remember hearing about this with a non-Epson
printer. To the best of my recollection, it's only been certain HP printers
that have this issue. Microsoft is aware of this issue.

First thing to try, see if there are updated printer drivers. If that
doesn't work, we've been suggesting a workaround. Use a different printer
when you are doing a preview (a .pdf driver is fine). If the file is ready,
change it back to your Epson and print it.

Do you have your printer set up to print in greyscale? (Either as a
default setting or in a particular publication.)

No, it's set for color...and it is selected as the default printer although
in Publisher, the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer appears first in
the list of printers. I only have the Epson 1280 installed, no other
printers. The Microsoft Document Image Writer was AFAIK installed with
Office 2003.

Have you considered reinstalling your driver?

Install the Generic PS for Commercial Printing. It will be in the Install new
Printer list under generic. Select it as default. When you open your
publication does it preview in color now? If it does, can you then select the
Epson and the print preview show color?

Remember to go back and select the Epson as default in the Printer folder.

I had to go into Page Setup and -THEN- select the printer...for whatever
reason, unless the publisher document has the printer selected via Page
Setup, the Print Preview only displays in grayscale.

Now the Print Preview works as it should...

Thanks for the help...
