?Column charts + multiple ind. vars + sec. axis?

I am having trouble with creating a particular column
chart. I would like to plot several independent variables
with some using the primary y axis and some the secondary
y axis.

When I create the chart, they all reference the primary
(as expected). But when I set one series to plot on the
secondary axis, the columns change from side-by-side to
overlapping. I want them to remain side-by-side. Can
someone tell me how to do this or what I am doing wrong?
