columns and tabs

I am trying to create a page in Publisher that would have two columns but
within each column it would have two tab stops. I would like to fill the
column vertically so that it will fill the left hand side first and then
start at the top of the right hand side. I was able to create the columns
and tab stops in the left hand column but when I pressed "tab", it would jump
to the right hand column. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Gail

Why not create 4 columns?

Well, I hadn't thought of that...it is a list of dates followed by a name so
it is easier to create if I can fill the date and associated name and then
continue on down that column rather than filling in dates first, then names,
etc. Does that make sense? Gail

Maybe I didn't understand the question...
I thought you wanted the first (top) entry
in column two to follow the last (bottom)
entry in column one.

I tried to reproduce the behavior you
described with the tab stops and the only
way I can get the tab key to select the next
textbox is if the cursor is not active. This
is accomplished by left clicking the
scratch area.

Maybe someone else will offer some ideas.

Thank you to you both. Late last night I tried the columns again and it
worked in the way I wanted it to. The day before I had been having problems
with my cursor and perhaps that is why it was jumping to the next column. It
works just fine now. Thanks again.
