Combine photo and text in one box

R

Ronald

I want to combine a photo and text in one box. I want the text to wrap
around the photo. When I put the photo in first, and then type the text in
Publisher, everything works fine. The problem is I then need to move the
text box and the photo. When I do that, the text doesn't wrap anymore
because they are separate from one another. Does anyone know how to keep the
text wrapped when moving both the photo and the text?

Can you be a little more explicit about the word "group". I find that what I
have is a text box with a photo inside (which is separate). Because of that,
each one has to be moved separately.

Thanks

==================================
Hold your Ctrl key...left click / select the Picture...
left click / select the text box...

You'll see the Group icon appear at the edge
of the textbox...left click it to Group the two
objects.

Also you can place your pointer slightly above
the top left corner of the text box and drag a
box around the project. When you release the
mouse button at the bottom right corner...the
Group icon will appear...left click it to Group
the objects.

Select both the text box and the picture while holding the shift key. There is a
icon on the bottom of this group, click the icon. Search for group in the help
menu.

I have just started using Word 2007. In Word 2003 I was able to select a text
box and a photo, in order to group them, by using the Select tool to draw a
box around them. This doesn't work for me with any of the Select tools in
W2007. When I draw a box, only the text box is selected, not the photo.
Puting the photo in other text-wrap modes makes no difference.

Nor does the Cntrl-Click suggestion made in this thread work. If the photo
is selected, clicking on the text box, with or without Shift, with or without
Control, simply deselects the photo, and vice versa. What can I be doing
wrong? It's absolutely infuriating!

Thanks in advance!

Perhaps you should ask this in a Word newsgroup this one is for Publisher.

Thanks for replying, Mary,

but as I explained (see below): "If the photo is selected, clicking on the
text box, with or without Shift, with or without Control, simply deselects
the photo, and vice versa."

I read all the suggestions in this thread and tried them all. Shift-click
and Control-click will work to select any number of drawing objects to group,
but WILL NOT work with a photo.

The moment I shift-click the photo (after shift-clicking and selecting a
number of other objects successfully) the photo is selected and the other
objects de-selected. For some reason, although it's obviously worked for
people who wrote the messages, Shift-click and Control-click don't work for
me on photos. Clearly I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what!
Anyone have any idea?

Thanks
Anne

OOPS! I have just realised that this forum is for Publisher, not Word, and my
problem is in Word 2007.

However, Word Help still says that the Control-click and Shift-click things
should work to select the photo and text box, and I WAS able to select both
photo and text box in Word 2003 with the Select tool, so I don't understand
why it doesn't work in W2007.

For anyone else having the same problem, though, I've found a way round it:
create a separate text box and put the photo in it, then another text box for
the caption. You can then group them by any of the methods mentioned.

Shouldn't have to do it though, and if anyone else knows why it doesn't
work, I'd still be interested to know.
