% Complete vs Actual Work

I want to be able to change my percent complete without it automatically
entering in actual hours in the resource usage. Is there a way that can be
done? Thank you in advance for suggestions!

Tools | Options | Calculation Tab | Task Status Updates Resource Status

Uncheck this box.

But play around with it and make sure you really want this...

you can also use the field called Physical Percent Complete. It might do
what you want...
