component not correctly registered error

Larry

When I open, and upon closing, MS Word, I get a pop-up
with heading "Microsoft Visual Basic" and message
"component not correctly registered". I tried reloading
Word; reloading Works; going to a day earlier restore
point; Word repair. Nothing works.

I think it happened during a bungled load of Shockwave or
something that mixed with Spybot Teatimer.
Any suggestions?

What happens when you start Word in Safe Mode? These errors are normally
associated with third party macros. See step 4 of
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm

Terry,

Tried your suggestions. Found PDFPRO.DOT in the Word
startup folder, renamed it.

Everything works like new! Thanks for the help--do you
think this was a virus, corrupted file, or something else?
